Remember Me?

Okay, Kelly, I am sufficiently shamed by my ridiculously extended absence from the hallowed halls of d-land. I don't even have an impressive or even plausible excuse (Maxwell Smart: Would you believe.... I was in a coma? No? I overslept? No? Would you believe I blinked?).

This was the sunrise view from our hotel in Vancouver last weekend. Vancouverites may recognize the trapezoidal grey bulk at the bottom as the enormous glass ceiling that covers the provincial courts.

Thin apologies aside, you haven't missed much in the intervening time. However, I do find myself wistfully noting my disappearance from favourite lists. Thought I wouldn't notice, didn't you? Well, I've still been reading all my favourites, let me tell you.

Like so many things, writing in my blog started to seem like a hassle, one of those things I mean to do but procrastinate on endlessly. I know perfectly well that no one out there is expecting anything amazing when they click on the rufus-link, but all the same, I felt that I had a certain standard that required me to spend time vainly tweaking, proofreading, and making attempts at wit.

No longer, I say!

This blog will not die! Nay, it will live on in infamy FOREVER!

Here I am at Canada Place gazing longingly into the Burrard Inlet

What I mean is that I am going to try to write here more often (whoa - deja vu!), even if it is only a banal sentence or two. I like the social side of diaryland too much to let it slip out of my meaty paws. The same goes for my other site (doofusmonkey), which has been updated even less often. I am way too oversensitive to nonexistent criticism (i.e., lack of praise) and I need to thicken up (metaphorically, I mean. I am plenty thick on the literal end of things).

What surprises me though, is that doofusmonkey has been getting steady traffic week after week. Google Image Search seems to love sending hardcore Danish punk aficionados my way, though I don't get any comments from them.

This is the Nakalele Blowhole blowing its hole. It was not far from here that I proposed to Bee a couple months ago. No half-naked elderly men around when I did the actual deed, though

This is getting long and boring already, so I will perk up your interest by doffing my hat to all those people who I've been reading steadily. I won't add links to those of you who are locked up, though. My list hasn't changed much, but I just want to recognize you people for being so damned interesting. In the order in which they popped into my head:

- wickedcrazy: I just love Kelly. She never lets me down. She just so... herself.
- meli-mello : I like to think that I would be a lot like Melanie if I was a girl. She's great.
- saru-san: Why is this guy a food scientist instead of a professional writer? Prolific, completely likeable, and damn hilarious.
- alicefalls: Poor you if you don't have Alice's password. She rocks in many ways. Always puts a smile on face.
- sanetwin: Raw, unadulterated Betty. Smart, creative, and unstoppable. Between Kelly, Betty, and Alice, there is this unholy trinity, and woe to you if read one without reading the other two.
- laura-jane: She updates almost as infrequently as I do. That is the worst thing you could possibly say about the inimitable Laura-Jane. I wish she was less busy, so I could enjoy her writing like in the old days.
- mugwhump: L-J is really coming into her stride, I think. She is always updating, always ruminating. I may not share her religious passion, but I honestly enjoying reading about it. She is a really sweet and supportive person.
-participant: Funny, unapologetic, music-obsessed. I think she's pretty damn cool.
-oddsfish: She is intelligent, full of quotes from songs I've never heard, and she's got a great big heart. I suspect that she is brimming with talents. I am confident that she will get her big break.
-sheisdancing: In my profile I say: "one of the most unique, creative, eclectic blogs I've seen." I think that still applies. I admire her from afar (Also, I apparently still think of her in terms of her long defunct serapay alter-ego).

Okay, that is still an incomplete list, but if I don't post this now, I am going to get sick of it. Sorry, if I forgot you. I'm sure I think you're great.

I love this picture of Bee and my nephew on Po'olenalena Beach, just minutes after my sister's wedding in Maui.
