2006-06-15 - 3:12 p.m. I Still Exist In case you were wondering, my near-year of good health recently collapsed into a trifecta of nasty cold (wham!) followed by a UTI (blam!) and rounded out with horrible intestinal results from antibiotics (kablooie!). I think I should market my post-antibiotic witches' brew of gatorade, pepto bismol, and acidophilus culture to other IBS sufferers (don't worry - I don't actually mix them together). I think I am starting to claw my way back out of the pit like Ash in the beginning of Army of Darkness. Minus the prosthetic chainsaw. Hmmm. What else is new? I got a haircut. Yes, I no longer have the long flowing curls, no more ponytail for me. Although I may just let it grow for another few years. Rufus gazes longingly toward the skylight. I bought a new guitar. Nothing too expensive, but I love it. I had a song I wrote and recorded recently played on a college radio station. This is the advantage of having DJs for friends. Unfortunately I tuned in too late to actually hear it myself, but I am assured that it was played. I found out that my grandmother is addicted to Judge Judy, so I watched some episodes while I was sick. It is surprising to me how gratified I feel when she sticks it to some selfish idiot. I would say that I must have inherited something from my grandmother, but we're not biologically related, so it must be nurture instead. Bee's sister had a second child just a few days ago: a healthy baby girl. Everyone is very delighted. I am an uncle three-times over now. My sister is getting married a month from today! This is the second sister to be wedded. The first was one of the twins in Hawai'i in December. This coming nuptials will be for the second twin (well, actually the first twin by about two minutes) and it will be much closer to home. Our wedding is in the planning stages now. We have a probable place (gorgeous private home with a huge garden right beside a river), the beginnings of a menu (BBQ veggie burgers, salmon, and potatoes), and an approximate date (April 2007). What I am really interested in, of course, is the honeymoon. I am pushing for a cross-canada trip, which I have never done and always wanted to. Bee likes the idea too, but it is not definite yet. Let me inject this bit of feeling: I am really happy that such an awesome person wants to spend her life with me. Not that I am an asshole or anything, but I just feel very lucky to have found someone who is so good to me. Bee is the best! |
